And before anyone asks, yes, I did buy one.

My guess is they're moving as much stuff as they can before chapter 11 forces them to. If anyone is interested and hasn't already read about that: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... krupt.html

But, anyway, here is a link to the lowers if anyone else wants to get one.

What a tragic state of affairs. And, there's nothing special about the "Competition" lower than all their other lowers, except the roll stamp! I woun't own anything from Colt, but an original revolver, or Delta Elite 10mm 1911.

The competition lower is made in Texas, not in commie-neticut.

That's all the special it needs.

While I resist buying anything Colt new because of price, I have no complaints about their products. This is not a bad price for an AR-15 lower though. . . .

Like Rattler, I love Colt revolvers, but I just can't justify the expense associated with the name. But to be fair, I do own a number of Colt products and there are a still a few on my Colt bucket list!

I feel the same way Thom, I use to own an Officers Model 1911, it was an 80's series; it was a very nice piece, but I sold it off to get into the 9.5in Ruger® Super Redhawk.

as for the price of the Colt® roll-marked AR15 lower receiver, that’s a fairly average price these days, as many of the manufactures have come to the realization that the marketplace is saturated with numerous products.

Can anyone else remember a day when you could even BUY a new stripped colt lower?

I can't. Unless it was stripped down from a complete gun for resale in a ban state or something.

Stock Status: (Out of Stock)

I didn't think it would take long to see that.

Looking back, I should've ordered two and held onto one of them to flip at the next panic. But had other obligations with the $$.

I doubt the electric company would be so understanding.

as much as I wanted (1) I held off, as the passage of I-594 and the enforce outta State sales tax would double the price of the lower ... for me, in the State of WA.

No. It has never been a factory sanctioned sale. Colt has never sold stripped receivers before, and that has long been their claim. They of course have been available from time to time, from Police trade ins, imports and etc, but never offered that way from the factory before. This is a big deal for them, and of course only stems from their continued mismanagement by a litany of retired generals, corporate head-hunting hacks and other misfits who have sat in the seat of President of the company over the last 25 years or so. Colt has been a "golden parachute" job for Generals and staffers who have helped Colt get military contracts in the past. That died with the influx of FN into the US manufacturing market.

I for one, based purely on the way they have treated their buying public (support for the 10 round magazine ban, voluntarily going to "post ban" configurations and supporting the AWB), have long been ready for the Colt name to die a horrible death. Along with Ruger.

Forgive me for asking but what has Ruger done? Not being argumentative, I just honestly don't know. I have always been a Ruger fan. I think they make a great product.

Roger that, plus used what is essentially extortion like practices to bully people to stay out of competition. The man never invented anything in his life, and yet takes credit for being such a great innovator of the industry. Think about it: The Ruger #1 Rifle is a falling block. The single action revolvers are Colt copies. The 10/22 uses a rotary magazine that had been used in rifles in WWI - yet he takes credit. The MK1 22 pistol is a Luger with a different slide. He's given credit for being the first to make investment cast pistol frames - NOT - Bob Hillberg who invented the Whitney Wolverine did that first. Sorry, Bill Ruger the credit is not yours.
