Right. Im limited to 5 in the mag for hunting, so the stock one is already too big at 7 rnds(I think thats what they are). I was under the impression that VLDs were something you would use in benchrest shooting, however...........I just did a search and found that isnt so. That'll teach me to comment on things I dont know about  Im not at familiar with them and I thought they were just big long match bullets........hence the assumption of a bipod or sandbag :D

Has anyone modified the standard steel magazine that comes with the gamestalker to alow for longer bullets by cutting a groove with a dremel?

If you have a reasonably equipped shop, it takes about 40 minutes. I just ordered some Bushmaster single stack followers. No dock date yet though.

Sounds like you just need to jump up to a UMAR lower....

Sweet! I went to the range a few weeks back with 5 loads of 150gr Nosler BT's, brought along with me 5 rounds with the VLD's to warm up the barrel. Well, those VLDs were under an inch and the tightest I got with the noslers was 2". Decision made, VLD's are going to TN to do some deer hunting this year. I have 5 loads ready to test with the VLDs and W748.
