I have a Remington '03A3 semi-sporterized which will one day become a .25-06.

Silly question but I want to be educated. I am right or wrong that since the 03 was a 30 cal (30-06 correct?) that basically it can be barreled to any 30 cal?

as I understand it ... It could be barreled as a .308 easily enough.

Just about any caliber/barrel could be used in a 03 and has. The bolt face would need modifying for non 30-06 based ammunition. What caliber are you thinking of?..... 30-06 is a pretty nice round as it is.

if I were to challenge (1) of the receivers, I'd most likely pursue a .308 build

I already have a sporterized '17 Enfield (Eddystone) in .30-06. Always wanted a .25-06 so I will eventually re-barrel my 03A3. My dream vault would also include a .338-06 and a .35 Whelen someday!
