Oly case

Postby emsemt911 » Thu May 25, 2006 2:54 pm

Is the case that comes with a Oly purcase any good? I have received cases from a manufacture w/ a purchase and it was horrible.

Anyone have pics?

The case that came with my K3B is olive drab in color and is a hard plastic. Its okay to transport to the range but it will not fit a scoped rifle. I would say the quality is average. If you want a case to fit a scoped rifle try these sites www.tapco.com or www.pelican.com Pelican makes an outstanding case.

I am leaning on getting a Pelican case

Blackhawk makes some nice soft cases. I have seen one of them that a SWAT member has. I think they come in several configurations.

I like the Oly case for what I have invested in it and it fits my back ATV rack perfectly. Scoped rifles with extra high rings or target turrets don't usually fit though.

I've got one of those cases (in black), and for the money, I don't think you can find a better soft case.

I just got a Blackhawk softcase because my Oly no longer fit in the green case (i got a new scope). It has a seperator in it for two long guns, a pouch on the side with straps for a pistol, and large pocket for whatever will fit.

Stickman, I guess my real question is: Will this case accept a "Scoped K8" I’m looking for a military style soft case; I have the scope mounted on a one piece riser base unit and did not want to have to remove the scope to store or transport the rifle.

I can't speak to whther it would fit a scoped AR or not, but I will sat that it is very roomy and well padded, and appears that it would. It has semi-rigid padding along the zipper that act as side stiffeners. There are internal straps to tie the piece down and pockets in the end for the stock and muzzle. The three MOLLE pockets mount to a long zippered pocket on the top that has two velcored pockets inside. There is a duffle bag strap on the back that can be tied down out of the way as well as the carry handle.

Zippered pocket behind the MOLLE bags. Measures 9 1/2 x 26. There are two side opening pockets, each one 9 1/2 x 12. THe openings for each is at the center and is velcroed. Pistols would fit nicely in each.

Back of bag. Duffle bag strap is held to bag with two keepers and the hardware is covered by a separate velcored piede that doubles as a shoulder pad. All in all a very nice setup and a much better bargain for the price after I ciompared it to many others.

It got to me three days after purchase.

I sell those cases, and yes, they will take a scoped K-8. I am using one right now for that length rifle. It will NOT take a 24" AR though.

Nice cases!

Yup...came FedEx. $22 is about right for Fed Ex. I bought it on 27 May and had it before the weekend. Too big for a USPS bulk rate box.

This was before I knew DTech had them. I would imagine he can cut a better deal.

Well as you have read from just about everyione else the cases that you get from oly will not let you store your weapon with a scope unless you have a quick detachable mounting system... HOWEVER I purchase a hard double case for my K3B have it all decked out with every type of fun goody I can think of. So my dilemma what to do with that olive case... Problem solved I used it for my Benali Nova 12 gauge shotgun, it holds the shotgun and two belts full of shells problem solved....lol.... since the case is smaller it is quite a surprise when I take it out and start blasting away.. UNFORTUNATELY I live here in the Horrible mandated left wing moronic State of CA ...so every weapon I own needs it own case for when I will get the chance to bug out......................lol

Hi all,

This is a response to the OP (date looks around 2006). But...

My recent purchase (May 2015) of a K9-GL1 rifle from Oly included a black somewhat hard plastic case.
Nothing special, as it's similar to a long rifle/shotgun case, like those cheesy black Plano cases

It does have an Oly impressed stamp on it, so it is made for them. Can't figure why it's so damn long, since they sell AR riles mainly, yes?

It's in no way a sturdy case meant to be used for shipping a rifle (like through an airport, no TSA locks, plastic is too "soft" too).

I could see if you had a smaller scope setup (nothing too large like 40 obj lens) and with low to mid rings, it would fit in their case.
I think a 20 obj lens scope would fit.

A varmint AR, this case could work for those peeps, with those longer barrels.

So, you can use it with a red dot/compact scope/EOTech type sight for sure, with the car stock fully extended, and have room for several mags.
But, the contents may shift around.
It's not a very tight setup but acceptable, especially if you wrap stuff with a cloth or place a towel in there.

My beef with this case is it's not an AR case, but really it's a long rifle case.
There's sooooo much room in it (front to back) for an AR to slide around in it (even with the sponge insert).

Best to just use it for your shot gun, bolt action rifle, air rifle or the like if soft cloth cases are not to your liking.

I like my RRA case much better, more suited for AR.
Many ARs don't ship without cases these days (Colt, Sig).

At least Oly offers something..

FYI: I've used Ruger 10/22 cloth cases (Cabela's has em around 20 bucks, and has side pockets, Bass Pro Shops too, without pockets).
AR with smaller red dot/Sightmark (not with an EOTech 516, too large) can fit in those.
