.25wssm ammo sources?

Postby CuriousGeorge » Mon Feb 04, 2013 1:52 am

I confess:
I have not yet fired my Dtech built .25wssm as I have no ammo.
I know, it's a sin! Unfired?! Admitting the problem is the first step...

Where can I find something close to 100gr? 100-115 or so, that's what he tuned the integral comp on my Oly SUM for.
Anyone reload for it and have the FFL so they can sell the reloads legally?
Or somewhere that would have factory ammo in stock...

that's not a very big problem, I reload for that caliber, so I've not been in the market for production ammo; I'll Google around a little, and see what I can find.

I'm not finding much commercially production 25WSSM available; and IF? you do find some of it; you will need to seat the round a bit shorter than what it is factory seated at ... as this is loaded for bolt-action rifles.

Hmm, it's unfortunate but not really surprising to hear that commercial loads are hard to come by now. When I bought mine there were probably 4 factory options I'd see regularly, but as the caliber hasn't really seemed to "catch" I have noticed it's presence dwindling on the shelves.

A quick search found a couple places with 85 grain loads in stock, I think Natchez Shooters Supply was "cheapest." 8O

Sorry I can't help, I love my Dtech .25 WSSM, but my ammo source is a Dillon RL550B...

On a side note, if you do handload, it's a touch heavy for your range, but my rifle has really liked the Hornady 117 SST's. Nosler Ballistic tips of varying weights have also worked well, as have the 100gr Sierra Matchkings. Stay away from the Berger VLD's, though, they have much more of a needle-type point than the Matchkings, and your mag length will kill you trying to get the ogive anywhere near the lands.

Best of luck!

I saw the 85gr bullets list at Natchez Shooters too; but they were almost $40 for a box of (20) wow! and I too feed the 25WSSM via the Dillon Press; and I reloaded nearly 400 rounds the last time I borrowed the press; and I have newly (500) more peices of brass 'NIB' that has yet to be hand loaded.
