I've thought about it, have the room and the time, but seems kinda expensive to get started. Not sure I shoot enough to make it worth it.

I have a Lee Progressive dedicated to .45. I load in powder, primers, bullets, and brass, and it pumps out loaded ammo as fast as I can pull the handle. Great machine.

It saves me a bunch of money, since I shoot a lot of .45 ACP.

I would love to get a press for rifle calibers. I've been eyeing some recently, and when I pick one up, I'll be reloading a handful of different calibers. I haven't run the numbers on 5.56 yet - it's really inexpensive in bulk already, so it might not be cost effective at this point.

I built this narrow 12ft long room in the back of my garage; and I use this bench to reload and do cleanup and maintenance on the rifles and pistols; and as you can see there are two permanently mounted ‘single-stage’ re-loaders, (1) Hornady® and (1) RCBS® RockChucker; and the Lee® shotgun loader is just clamped in place temporarily, as I can remove that plywood platform base, as I utilize that end of the bench to build as well.

the Dillon® 550 press belongs to OA2 Member 7FootJumper; as he's lent it to me a couple of times to reload the 25WSSM

and just a few weeks a friend of mine gave me a box of reloading equipment as a friend of his got out of the reloading hobby; so my buddy got me all of the .44 Magnum components that his friend had available.

Box Contents:

(1) 1lb. of Unique®
(1) 1K box of CCI® Lrg. pistol magnum primers
(2) 100 packs of WLP® Lrg. pistol primers
(6) boxes of miscellaneous .44Mag cartridges
(2) MTM® cartridge cases
(1) 500/count bulk box of 240gr. 44cal. SWC’s

and about 200 pieces of ‘once fired’ .44Mag brass

and my Grandfather reloaded for nearly 30 years; and as a youngster, I can remember hanging out and watching him work at the reloading bench prior to hunting season, and other outings; and tinning lead (tire-weights) in his garage was a common occurrence, when we’d be down to visit the grandparents … this was his setup.

I reload all of mine...

380 Auto
9mm
40 S&W
.223
7.63x39
30-30
30-06

Seems that I have another caliber in there that I am forgetting about. I took down my temporary reloading bench because we are getting our house built. Wasn't going to do any reloading until the house is finished being build and we can move in and I will have my custom built bench.

Dillion, IMHO is the best, yes I drink the blue coolaid!!! Had a small spring break, called them up gave them the part number and it was at my mailbox 3 days later.

For benches, I used plan #3 from Strongtie, I also modified the plan a little and made the bench a little deeper than 2 feet.

I suggest #3 or #5 plans, make them deeper if you like.

Whoa! Had no clue you were Rattler's son!

But yea, I love reloading. Its my zen thing, what I do when the world sucks and I need to get away for some 'me' time. It takes a little $$ to get started, but once you're setup, it really helps save money in the long-run, especially with the more pricey calibers/quality rounds out there...

If you still need a bench, PLEASE, let me know. I have several that would likely be ideal, and I'll probably have to throw them out within the next month or so. PM me if interested, since I'll probably forget to check this thread

I started reloading when I got my .243WSSM built about 3 years ago, but loaded with my cousin, who lives 5 hours away. Since I didn't really shoot a LOT at the time, I would only load 50-100 whenever I would visit.

Since October, I started asking for components and tools and such for birthdays and Christmas. Since I've got a small apt here at school, I had to use a very conservative bench ($20 from pawn shop), due to space restrictions, but I've got enough equipment now to load all my and most of my fathers calibers. The total cost of equipment for me was offset by asking for a couple pieces as gifts, getting some used, and only buying the stuff I need, and picking up extra stuff as I go along.
